Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his unique mixture of soul gospel, R&B and R&B. The singer's career has taken her all over the world, from Broadway to European concerts and festivals and even to the Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang and played piano. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. The very first track to showcase her voice was called Stalk You, a Japanese house 12 song. It has been remixed and a component of her repertoire. The singer has also provided her voice for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. The band was hired as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. In 2007, Grammy and Tony award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director in the production staged by Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine became the focus of notice during the four shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
